چکیده

UNLABELLED latrogenic damage to the thoracic duct or large blood vessels in the neck lymph nodes, the operations carried out in the lower regions of the neck, especially the left, unfortunately, it happens even in experienced hands, because their intersection is often required for resection. It is essential to early diagnosis of complications, the best time yet in operation, which will help prevent many later, an extremely serious metabolic complications associated with loss of tissue fluid, such as electrolyte imbalance, hypovolaemia, hypoalbuminemia, hypoproteinemia, hypovolaemia, lymphopenia, immunosuppression and others, leading sometimes to death. AIM To assess the incidence of cervical lymphorrhoea in patients who have undergone neck surgery and assessment of risk factors for this complication, and a review of methods of treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS In the years 2000-2009 in the Department of Otolaryngology and Laryngological Oncology in Poznan, among 1899 patients who underwent surgery on his neck were 7 cases of iatrogenic cervical lymphorrhoea, including 2 cases of chylothorax. RESULTS In 6 cases, intensive medical treatment during the two weeks leading to complete cure, in a case of a patient after radical removal of metastatic medullary thyroid carcinoma descending deep into the mediastinum, reoperation, and despite aggressive drug treatment lymphorrhoea continued, there were devastating metabolic effects leading to death. CONCLUSION latrogenic fistula and lymphocele is a rare, dangerous and difficult to treat and potentially fatal complication of surgery of the neck. It should be recognized as early as possible in order to implement the treatment without committing to devastating metabolic effects.

A Rare Complication of Chylous Leakage After Open Partial Nephrectomy Successfully Resolved by Somatostatin Analogue

We report the first case of a rare complication of chylous leakage after open left partial nephrectomy. The recent literature on chylous ascites after nephrectomy is reviewed and hypothesized the etiology of this rare complication. We propose an early use of octreotide, somatostatin analogue, together with diet modification to gain rapid resolution of this confounded complication.

The Role of Somatostatin Treatment in the Management of Chylous Fistula after Neck Dissection

Chylous fistula is a serious complication of neck dissection. The use of somatostatin after neck surgery, has been described in literature. Because of the absence of definitive guidelines, reporting of our experience in three cases may guide the surgeons to overcome this life threatening complication. We descibe three cases who underwent neck dissection. While two of them had high output (>1000...

Chylous Fistula following Axillary Lymphadenectomy: Benefit of Octreotide Treatment.

Chyle leak following axillary lymph node clearance is a rare yet important complication. The treatment of postoperative chyle fistula still remains unclear. Conservative management is the first line of treatment. It includes axillary drains on continuous suction, pressure dressings, bed rest, and nutritional modifications. The use of somatostatin analogue is well documented as a treatment for c...

Chylous Leakage: A Rare Complication after Axillary Lymph Node Dissection in Breast Cancer and Surgical Management

Chylous leakage is an extremely rare complication of surgery for breast cancer. We experienced a case of chylous leakage after axillary lymph node dissection. A 38-year-old woman with invasive ductal carcinoma in the left breast underwent a modified radical mastectomy after four cycles of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The postoperative serosanguinous drainage fluid became "milky" on the fourth post...
